Aircraft Maintenance & Systems Technician



Position Summary

Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator that engineers operationally realistic testing at Mach 5+. Our air-launched, Talon testbeds are reusable, cost-effective platforms that enable routine access to the hypersonic environment. We deliver flight data critical to validating system performance and achieving rapid technology deployment. Together with our customers, we drive innovations that are imperative to advancing national security.


The Aircraft Maintenance & Systems Technician will be responsible for maintaining, repair, troubleshooting, fabrication, installations, and modifications on the 747 carrier aircraft airframe and systems. As Stratolaunch expands our program base this person may be tasked to other, new projects and in the development of vehicles requiring the skills, knowledge and abilities utilized on this current project.



  • Troubleshooting, fabrication, installation and maintenance of carrier aircraft systems and components including:
    • Fuel systems and components
    • Hydraulic systems and components
    • Pneumatic systems and components
    • Electrical systems and components
    • Engine systems and components
    • Airframe and aircraft structures
  • Operate all power tools and equipment necessary to accomplish job assignment
  • Complete all required installation maintenance records in an accurate and timely manner
  • Interpret and work in accordance with written work instructions, technical manuals, engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics
  • Operate related ground handling equipment utilized to service the aircraft
  • Able to work in confined spaces or heights greater than 25 feet as required.
  • Able to effectively communicate and partner with Engineering.



  • Demonstrated experience in aircraft systems troubleshooting, fabrication, installation and maintenance preferred, Including multiple of the following:
    • Fuel systems and components
    • Hydraulic systems and components
    • Pneumatic systems and components
    • Electrical systems and components
    • Engine systems and components
    • Airframe and aircraft structures
  • Direct experience maintaining, replacing, or modifying large aircraft structure or sub-systems such as sheetmetal experience; bending, riveting, fasteners, treatment of metal, or changing large LRU’s & subs system components such as flight control systems, landing gear systems, pneumatic systems, etc.
  • A strong understanding of the importance of FOD control and tool control
  • Detail oriented – strong attention to detail
  • Ability to problem solve and adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently, responsible, take the initiative
  • Physically able to handle items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Other duties as determined/assigned by management
  • Must possess valid passport



  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate 
  • experience in aircraft maintenance, systems fabrication, installation
  • A&P license and previous 747 experience (preferred)
  • 747 Gen Fam or OJT
  • Large Turbofan Engine experience
  • Sheetmetal experience

  • This position may require travel to offsite locations depending on aircraft dispatch location

Mojave Air & Spaceport is located 95 miles north of Los Angeles.
